How to Take Care of Your Skin After Motherhood

[vc_row][vc_column width="1/1"][vc_column_text]

Before I had my first baby, a Dove beauty bar was all I needed. After the first baby, the simplistic, natural ingredients of Aveeno's cleansers and moisturizers worked perfectly. Three babies and one husband into my mid-30's and both of the above do nothing but leave my mildly-oily skin ripe for pimples.

Over the last year, my skin is going through changes. I don't know if it's the 30's or the kids, but I've had to employ some techniques to keep my good skin, good skin. As we all know, good black, don't crack. And while that's certainly true in my family, you've still go to do your part. Here are three things I do to keep my Black from cracking before it's time.

Most doctors recommend 8 to 12 glasses of water a day. Your skin is mostly made up of water and needs to be replenished from the inside out. Water cleanses your body, helping it to get rid of unwanted free radicals and other toxins it absorbs from your everyday environment.

Since we don't live in a bubble, we must change our skin care regimen based on our environment. During the warmer months I use a foaming cleanser and mattifying moisturizer and during the winter I use a mild, cream moisturizing cleanser. Depending on the season, your skin may need something different.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/3"][vc_single_image alignment="center" border_color="grey" img_link_target="_self" style="vc_box_outline" title="Eat Right" img_link_large=""][vc_column_text]

Kiwi, olive oil, dark chocolate, oranges and walnuts are just some of the foods that are great for your skin. (Check out this full list of good skin foods.) Bottom-line, what you eat can affect your hormone balance. Your hormones are directly related to acne and inflammation. The better you eat the better your skin will be.

One of the worst things you can do to your skin is to use conflicting products. Unless you are using homemade skin care products, you don't know whether chemicals in one product will negatively interact with another product's chemicals on your skin. Even if you are trying out new products, it's best to try out a system rather than an individual product. Trust me, I've tried to use different products together and it always in ends in pimples or redness.
